06 Jun 3 Reasons why you’re hesitant to hire a Personal Trainer
So you want to hire a Personal Trainer but you’re hesitant. That’s totally understandable, there’s a lot to consider. And you’re not alone. A lot of people simply don’t hire a Personal Trainer because they don’t get the answers to their questions.
So let’s take a look at some of those questions below.
3 Reasons why you’re hesitant to hire a Personal Trainer-
#1. What if I don’t like the Personal Trainer?
Well, that’s a good point! If you’re investing time, effort and money, it should be with someone you like and get along with, right?
MEET THEM IN PERSON- The best thing to do is see how you connect in person. Ask questions and tell them what you’re looking for.
TRAINING STYLE- Think about what type would be a good match for you. Do you like strong/gentle, fun/serious? How they encourage and motivate you can make a difference to your success.
TRY AGAIN- It’s ok if you don’t feel a good connection. The right trainer is out there so don’t give up and keep looking!
#2. What is the cost?
Investing in a healthier you is PRICELESS! By creating a healthier body now, you’re likely to have less issues later in life. Think of it as an insurance policy!
While rates per hour can vary, they typically range from $60-$100 per session. The range is based on several things-
Location- in the city vs. in the suburbs
Trainer- years of experience, qualifications
Facility- big box gyms vs. boutique studio
Packages- 1 session vs. multi sessions
Things to consider when looking at the cost-
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR- A Personal Trainer at the $60 range might be just starting out, working from home or have basic qualifications.
A Personal Trainer with years of experience, specialized certifications, that works at a boutique studio may be in the $80 range. One isn’t better/worse than the other, just be aware of why there’s a difference.
JUST FOR YOU- Hiring a Personal Trainer means they focus only on YOU! They make sure your workouts are personalized to your needs/abilities, you’re doing things correctly so you don’t get injured and they keep you MOTIVATED and ACCOUNTABLE!
Focused attention like that will help you get the most out of every workout.
#3. What if I can’t do the workouts?
It’s one of the comments we hear the most. Maybe it’s been a while since you’ve exercised at a gym? Or it’s your first time?
Stepping into something new can feel a bit overwhelming. It’s ok to feel that way and your Trainer totally understands.
Things to remember-
Your Personal Trainer is here to HELP YOU!- Talk to them, explain how you’re feeling and any concerns you may have. Discuss any injuries, surgeries or illnesses you’ve had in the past. After an assessment, your Trainer will create a personalized program for the level you’re at right now.
You may feel awkward and that’s ok!- You’re doing things you’ve never done before so feeling uncoordinated or self conscious is understandable. Your Trainer is there to help you and isn’t judging.
You’re going to feel soreness!- Yup, it happens. You’re strengthening your muscles and using them in new and different ways so there will be some. Soreness yes, pain no! If you’re experiencing pain, tell your Trainer immediately.
Hopefully, these answers help you if you find yourself feeling reluctant to hire a Personal Trainer. A good Personal Trainer can really help you with your fitness goals so don’t give up trying to find the right one for you.
